The Photography School's Reading Studio

Studio Facilities and Equipment

Our professional studio has all the features and equipment you’d expect from a top quality photography studio. Course leader is Freddie Walker ARPS ABIPP (freddiewalker.com)

The Photography School in Reading operates as a professional studio and is equipped with the very latest digital cameras, lighting, computers and printers. The formula for our renowned and successful courses is ’fast-track’ and fun. They take place in a small working studio environment and the group size of just six students means we move at a comfortable pace that is ‘hands-on’ and practical not classroom based. Freddie Walker has 30 years experience as a professional photographer and is an Associate qualified member of the British Institute of Professional Photography and The Royal Photographic Society. Mark Walker has 20 years experience as a photographer and specialises in all aspects of computer post production including Photoshop, Lightroom and plug-in filters. Our portfolio of commercial clients include British Airways, Yellow Pages, Sony, Zanussi, Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, Sunday Times Wine Club, BT, Orange, T-Mobile and Safeway. We have also photographed over 100 celebrities and musicians including Phil Collins, Tina Turner, Iron Maiden, Madness, Paul Weller, Bryan Ferry, Eric Clapton, Chris De Burgh, Howard Jones, Kim Wilde and Cliff Richard. We also have a vast experience of the wedding, portrait, image library and fine art market. Our images have featured in major magazines and publications worldwide. When the BBC was looking for a photography course to feature on ‘Cash in the Attic’ they chose ‘The Photography School’ – it was a huge success. We are very proud that it resulted in one of the highest day time viewing figures ever and has been repeated several times in the UK and worldwide. We have been running our courses for 6 years now but are a busy working studio both here in Reading and also in Kent.

  • Computers and I.T. – Our studio includes iMac’s which are used for set projects and demonstrations.
  • Lighting Equipment – Various lighting equipment is available to students from small ambient lights to large flash domes
  • Camera Equipment – We ask every student to bring their own cameras, flash guns, memory media, etc because our courses are designed to show you how to get the best from your equipment.  We do have a small amount of equipment available should you need it.  Please contact us before attending the courses to verify the equipment is available.

Note: Access and use of the equipment varies depending on the course
